Kevin K. Allen

Kevin Allen has built a distinguished legal career spanning decades, dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate the complexities of some of life’s most challenging decisions. His journey began with a law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. While still in law school, Kevin was selected for the U.S. Navy’s prestigious Judge Advocate General (JAG) program, launching a career of service and expertise that would focus on estate and business planning.

Assigned to the Northeast Regional Law Office in Connecticut, Kevin served as Chief Legal Assistant Counsel, preparing over a thousand wills and trusts for service members and their families. His dedication led to his appointment as the European Estate and Tax Officer at the European and Southwest Asian Law Office in Spain. There, he received advanced training in estate and tax law and personally assisted thousands of service members with their estate and tax planning needs.

Upon transitioning to private practice, Kevin focused on advanced estate and business planning. Through extensive lecturing and client advisement, he honed his ability to bring clarity and understanding to his clients’ difficult legal decisions. His ability to simplify intricate estate planning concepts made him a sought-after speaker and advisor.

In 2008, Kevin was appointed District Court Judge in Utah's First District Court by Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. Over the next decade, he presided over some of Utah’s most high-profile cases, earning national recognition for his problem-solving approach. He was particularly noted for his work regarding mental illness treatment in the judicial system, speaking on the subject at a national level. His leadership extended beyond the bench, where he served as Chairman of the Board of District Court Judges, a member of the Utah Sentencing Commission, and Presiding Judge of the First District in Utah. Additionally, his fellow judges entrusted him with a position on the Judicial Council, the governing body of Utah’s judiciary.

Following his judicial career, Kevin became Chief Corporate Counsel for a major investment firm, overseeing legal operations across the Intermountain West and leading the firm’s Estate Planning Team. In this role, he worked closely with high-net-worth individuals to design estate plans that protected their wealth and seamlessly transitioned it across generations.

Now, Kevin has committed himself to educating and assisting individuals and families with the difficult decisions often found in estate planning. With a profound understanding of these decisions' legal and emotional elements, he guides clients in creating and funding estate plans that reduce probate complexities and offer peace of mind for their loved ones.
